With over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry, Edgard Corona has become a

Corona’s journey in the fitness industry began in the 1970s
when he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Fundação
Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP). Despite his engineering background, Corona had
always been passionate about physical activity and sports, which eventually led
him to pursue a career in the fitness industry.  

In the 1980s, Corona embarked on a path of entrepreneurship,
starting his own businesses  and constantly seeking new opportunities. He
learned early on the importance of understanding customer needs and
preferences, which played a significant role in his success. This mindset
propelled him to establish the first Bio Ritmo gym in 1996, marking the
beginning of a new chapter in his career. 

Throughout the 1990s, Corona continued to explore new
avenues and embrace change. Following a skiing accident, he found himself
spending more time in the gym, which deepened his understanding of the fitness
industry. Determined to create a new model of fitness business management,
Corona founded Bio Ritmo, focusing on innovation and catering to the e volving
needs of customers. 

In the early 2000s, Corona’s vision expanded even further.
In 2008, he launched Smart Fit , a groundbreaking fitness concept that aimed to
provide high-quality fitness experiences to a wider audience. Under Corona’s
leadership, Smart Fit quickly became a trailblazer in the industry, expanding
its services to customers from all walks of life. 

Today, Smart Fit is a market leader  in Latin America, with a
presence in 14 countries. Corona’s relentless pursuit of growth and his
commitment to democratizing high-quality fitness have propelled the company to
new heights. In 2021, Smart Fit made history by becoming the first fitness
chain to go public on the Brazilian stock exchange, raising capital to support
its growth plans and invest in strategic initiatives.
