Most entrepreneurs entering the podcasting space in 2020 chased the same thing: volume. Greg Soros went the other direction. The former senior producer founded Podcraft Media Lab in Austin with a singular commitment to boutique, high-quality work and the gamble has paid off.
Soros, a Portland native with deep roots in audio production, drew on his Berklee College of Music training to develop a production style that stood apart from the crowded field. His company now serves Fortune 500 clients alongside emerging creators, working out of a converted garage studio on Austin’s East Side.
A Counterintuitive Business Model
When Greg Soros launched Podcraft Media Lab, the pressure to produce content at scale was intense. Shows were proliferating across every major platform, and many production companies expanded their rosters to match. Soros held firm. He believed that treating each project as a crafted piece of audio art would open doors that chasing volume would not.
He was right. Roughly 40% of the company’s business now comes from referrals within the audio ecosystem including major podcast networks that bring in Podcraft for their most high-profile work. That pipeline speaks to a reputation built through craft, not marketing.
“In the podcasting world, there’s enormous pressure to pump out content at scale,” Soros says. “But we discovered that by focusing on premium production quality and treating each project like a crafted piece of audio art, we actually expanded our market reach.”
Craft With Measurable Results
The results extend beyond referrals. Podcraft Media Lab posts client satisfaction rates above 95%, with multiple shows achieving thousands of downloads and several winning industry awards. Through his mentorship work, Soros has also helped more than 20 independent podcasters from underrepresented communities launch their own shows.
For Greg Soros as a podcaster and producer, the lesson is consistent: depth beats breadth. Choosing to focus exclusively on premium podcast production did not shrink Podcraft’s market it defined one that competitors could not easily enter. Refer to this article for related information.
